Written:
Wonderful things happen to me,
But ever so infrequently,
Friendships that I treasure so,
People I'm so proud to know.
Ordinarily, when school lets out,
I give a whoop; a giant shout,
I sing a lot and jump with glee,
And greet the summer merrily!
But something's different; something's changed,
Everything is re-arranged,
Cheryl won't be back this fall,
I'm brokenhearted, after all -
She's been my friend and partner too,
The best support I ever knew,
Someone special; dear to me,
Always there and quick to see -
I needed someone close to hear,
How I felt; the things I fear,
The things deep down that bothered me,
I valued this and so did she.
We shared our lives as closest friends,
A cherished love that never ends,
Partners always in our hearts
The bell as rung; the school year starts. |
